for the Community

Barkers of Huby has been a community owned, and volunteer run village shop and post office since May 2015. With over 500 shareholders and almost 60 volunteers, the shop has won many awards and is proudly supported by everyone in the villages of Huby & Sutton.

The shop is open Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm, Saturday 8am – 12.30pm and Sunday 9am – 11.30am.

The Post Office is open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm and Saturday 9am – 12 noon.

You can do most of your business and personal banking at the Post Office including, paying in cheques and cash, withdrawing cash, paying bills as well as posting letters and parcels and buying foreign currency.

We pack a lot into our small shop including: Newspapers and magazines, greetings cards and gift wrappings, wine, beer and spirits, soft drinks, confectionery, tobacco products, pet food, local jams and chutneys, bread, cakes and biscuits, fresh meat and dairy, frozen foods and ice cream, tinned goods, tea and coffee and everyday essentials, kindling, logs, plants, fresh fruit and vegetables.

We’re Here to Help

You can place an order in the shop for fresh meat, (Hartleys) delivered Tuesday and Friday, fresh fish (Hodgsons) delivered Wednesday, wine (York Wines) delivered Thursday, and baked goods (BespokeCakesbySara) delivered daily.

Please come and join our friendly team of volunteers. You’ll meet lots of new people, learn new skills perhaps, and enjoy being part of a lovely team providing an essential service to your local community.
